The use of fenugreek is ancient. Seeds of the plant were discovered in the tomb of the Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamen dating back some 3000 years ago. Today it is mostly known as one of the key ingredients in curry powder.
It is an annual plant in the bean family and a relative to licorice. Ripe pods with 10-20 seeds are harvested with the whole plant, bunched together and dried before threshed. The seeds are then dried and graded according to quality.
Fenugreek seeds have a bittersweet, musky and nutty flavor with tones of browned sugar and butter.
Our fenugreek is sourced from India via our partners Eko Land.
